Lash Frequently asked questions

What is a lash lift and tint?

This is the hottest lash trend right now! It is low maintenance and has a dramatic after for most people! A lash lift is lifting your natural lashes at the base of your natural lash with a perming solution. It gives the look of lashes after a lash curler is used. The lash lift and tint will last your full lash cycle (anywhere from 4-12 weeks). There is typically a big difference in the before and after with a lash lift, but it is still your natural lashes. We apply a darker lash tint to the top and bottom lashes after the lift is done to clients who would like it. We can use black or brown tint. The service is booked for one hour. Many of our clients add a brow wax and brow tint to this service which we can do during the lash lift processing time!

Will a lash lift and tint damage my natural lashes?

If you take care of your lashes and use the recommended lash serum to keep your lashes strong, no, your natural lashes will remain in good shape. We recommend getting a lift every 5-8 weeks depending on how fast your natural lashes grow. While it is not common, if you get lash lift and tints too close together, you may see some temporary damage to your natural lashes. We look out for our clients lash health and keep them in the loop if we see natural lashes that need some extra care. We have lash growth serums as well as lash strengthening serums at Sweet P Beauty for purchase for best results.

Can I wear makeup after my lash lift and tint?

Yes! Processing can still happen up to two days after the service is complete, so we recommend waiting on mascara if you can. Once mascara is applied to lashes after the lash lift and tint, it can look like you are wearing false lashes!

How long will the lash lift and tint last?

The short answer is 1-3 months. The lash lift and tint will last for the remainder of your lash cycle after the service done. Unfortunately, we do not know where anyone is at in their lash cycle because it is happening underneath the skin. If you happen to get your lash lift in the beginning of your lash cycle, it can last 3+ months. If you are getting your lash lift at the end of your lash cycle, it may last about a month. With hair growth, everyone’s lash hair cycle is different. Some people have a rapid growth cycle, and others are a bit slower. Once we do a few lash lifts, we can better guess how long they will last.

How do I care for my lashes after the lash lift and tint service?

There is not much to do to care for your lashes after the service. That is why it has gained so much popularity! After you get 2 or more lash lifts, we do recommend you starting on a lash strengthening serum. Just like you use a conditioner for your hair to keep it strong, a lash serum will put vitamins, proteins, and strength back into your natural lashes. We do carry the lash serum we recommend for purchase.

What are Lash Extensions?

The average person has 50-100 natural lashes per side. Lash extensions are semi-permanent false lashes applied individually to your natural lashes. Because each false lash is applied individually while letting each extension dry before applying the next extension, the application process takes time. Fills are recommended every 2-3 weeks. You can go as dramatic or natural as your natural lashes will hold. We always discuss lash health at clients first lash extension appointment.

How long do they last?

Extensions are attached to your natural lash, so they essentially become part of your natural lash cycle. You typically need a fill every 2-3 weeks after getting a full set of lashes. A full set of classic lashes takes about two hours depending on how many natural lashes you have. Volume lashes take three + hours to apply because they take more time to create a volume fan.

Are there different types of lashes?

Yes, there are three types of lash extensions.

  1. Classic lashes are one false lash adhered to one natural lash.

  2. Volume lash extensions which is anywhere from two to 12+ false lashes a natural lash. Volume lashes take longer to create and adhere. Appointment times are longer, and the rate is higher than classic lashes.

  3. Hybrid lash extensions are a mix of both classic and volume lashes.

How often do I need a fill?

Typically, every 2-3 weeks. You never want to lose more than 1/2 of the extensions before your next appointment. Remember appointments are time based, so we can only give you as many lash extensions as the appointment time slot allows. If you know you have lost more than a normal amount of lashes, please let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly if possible.

Can I continue with my normal skincare routine with extensions?

Oils can break the bond of the lash extension glue so you will want to avoid any oils or oil derivatives. We have plenty or recommendations if needed. It is also important to wash and brush your lashes daily, so they stay clean.

How do I care for my lashes?

  1. Use a gentle foaming cleanser daily on lashes.

  2. Gently brush lashes daily

  3. Keep all oil-based products away from the eyes and remember that everything on your face will travel to the eye area. This includes oil derivatives as well as oil will break up the glue.

  4. Do not use any kind of mascara or liquid eyeliner. The product gets in between the natural lash and the false lash loosening the bond of the glue.
