7 questions to ask when choosing your bridal beauty look!

There is so much pressure to find the perfect wedding day look. From Pinterest to your friend’s wedding posts, it can be overwhelming to sort through the vast array of looks you can choose from to make your day complete.  Whether you ordinarily wear makeup or not, how will you come up with the perfect look? I highly recommend thinking about it before heading to your trial so you and your beauty team can brainstorm together. It’s always tricky when a bride comes in and says, “Do whatever, I trust you”.  Although, we love to hear you trust us, it is YOUR day and we want to make it perfect for you. Giving your makeup artist answers to these 7 questions will help you clarify the vision you have for your wedding day and help us put that vision to reality!  Here are some questions that may get you off to a good start before you arrive to your trial run.

1. What’s your everyday look vs. your going out look?
Your wedding day look should be the best version of you.  That can be you on a normal day or you on your fancy date night, but it should look like you.  Don’t let this look throw your partner off as you are walking down the aisle. Think about what this is and let your beauty team know.

2. What are your colors?
When thinking of your wedding look, adding some of your colors may be a fun and personal touch.  If your colors are blush and navy, adding a bit of navy to your eyes to pull everything together may be a perfect.  If sage and white are your colors, adding some greenery into your hair is a simple and elegant way to tie everything together.  We have added color from everything to hair pieces to a pop in an eyeliner!

3. What time are you getting married?
Consider what time your ceremony starts.  An evening wedding can get away with a fancy updo and smokey eye.  A daytime wedding may be better suited for beachy waves and more of a natural makeup look.

4. Where are you getting married?
Location is a great way to help you think of what type of look to go for.  A beach wedding vs. The Four Seasons will most likely lead to very different looks.

5. What does your dress look like?
Your dress gives away the dress code for your entire day.  Is it a modern romantic lace dress or a sequined ballgown? What is the neckline?  Do you want to show off the back or any detail? Similar to your wedding venue and time of day, your dress provides you a lot of direction on which way to take your hair and makeup look.

6. What will the weather be like?
Wedding makeup is always going to be everything waterproof.  Rain or shine, professional makeup should not budge. The hidden clue is hair.  If it is going to be 80 degrees and your wedding is outside, opt for your hair to go up so you are not sweating.  This will not only be uncomfortable, but not so cute in pictures. If it is going to be super humid, take in consideration what your hair will do under those conditions and come up with a style you will not be regretting 20 minutes after your beauty team leaves.

7. Will you touch up?
A red lip is perfect for a holiday or even fourth of July wedding… but will you touch it up?  Many times, with a bright or dark lip, we go easy on the eye makeup. If your lip wears off and you don’t have a lot on your eyes, what will your overall look in pictures be?  If you or your best friend will without a doubt make sure those lips stay on through all the laughing, crying and kissing, go for it! Same goes for the trendy messy hair look.  Will you bobby pin the loose pieces back in place if they fall out while dancing? If not, try something more structured which may stay in place throughout the evening.

Planning a wedding is a full-time job.  Let this part be easy and fun. Your beauty team should be like two new girlfriends and make your wedding day that much better.  Having your wedding day look locked in will make your wedding morning that much easier and make your pictures that much better.
