  • What is Dermaplanning?
Dermaplanning is an exfoliation facial treatment that removes the Epidermal layer (top layer) of skin using a scalpel performed by a licensed + trained professional.  By removing the top layer, your skin looks refreshed + has a natural glow.

  • What are the benefits?
There are so many, but we narrowed it down to our top 5!

  1. This exfoliating anti-aging treatment creates cell renewal allowing your skin to breath + look youthful.  Goodbye dull skin!

  2. Products can penetrate the skin without dead skin + peach fuzz blocking them allowing them to do their job better.  Using anti-aging or hydrating serum + moisturizer?  Dermaplanning will give them a boost just by letting them do their job without fighting to get to the next layer of skin easier.  This service pairs perfect with a chemical peel service after for the same reason.  Again, another perk for anti-aging!

  3. The gunk we remove from dermaplanning is always interesting.  This is a deep cleansing service when done correct + you will feel it when it is done.

  4. Makeup looks 1000 times better!  Removing all the dead skin + peach fuzz gives a fresh canvas to work on!  This is the service for our brides + bridal parties knowing makeup will soon be makeup + photos will be taken.  I do recommend doing this service a couple times before the big day for best results.  Also, makeup should not be applied until at least one day after, so skin has time to recover.

  5. Zero downtime + it’s painless!  You will wake up the next morning feeling like you are glowing.

  • When is the best time for dermaplanning?
We love doing this before events; however, anytime you are doing something new to your skin, anything brewing under it may pop up.  I highly recommend doing it at least one time before so you do not get a surprise friend popping up for the day of.

  • How often should I get dermaplanning?
I recommend every 4-6 weeks, so your skin has time to heal between services.  Keeping up with dermaplanning keeps your skin fresh + the products you use at home working their magic.

  • Can I do it at home?
Technically yes.  There are the face razors many use to dermaplane at home.  Chances are the blade will not be super affective so the pressure can cause more harm to the skin when trying to remove skin, or it may just end up removing hair.  Dermplanning should be done with sterile tools, at a specific angel, with specific pressure, and even makes a specific sound we listen for.  If you are wanting to shave some peach fuzz, go for it as long as you are using a new razer every time (although waxing or sugaring will remove hair for a longer period).  If you are wanting to dermaplane, stick to going to a pro so you get the best results possible.

  • Who is not a candidate for dermaplanning?
Most skin types do great with dermaplanning.  There are a few contraindications we look for in the area we will be working on.

  1. Anyone with active + sever acne.  Please feel free to send us a pic if you are not sure.  Small breakouts are not problem.

  2. Eczema, Psoriasis, or multiple skin tags- this can potentially make things worse.

  3. Sunburn or active skin rash- because… ouch!
